Many movies are made in New York but not many of them have New York on their credits list. “New York City was not only an integral part of The French Connection,” explains Actor Sonny Grosso, “it was another character.” The movie follows two detectives as they traipse around the island from Ratner’s Restaurant to the Brooklyn Bridge. The crew even created an actual traffic jam on the Brooklyn Bridge in the famous final scene of the movie. Without NYC “this movie would have never been the same.”

What’s your favorite New York movie moment?

Jami Gong is a character that leaves you laughing out loud and intrigued by his wealth of NYC knowledge. Born and raised in Chinatown, Jami has embraced his roots and engages visitors to do the same. With his hand in multiple endeavors, this Chinese-American funny man doesn’t fail to entertain.

Since 1999, Jami has offered historical walking tours of his hometown. His intimate knowledge and quirky trivia of the area make this walking tour stand out.

He also supports Asian comedians with his premiere showcase, Take Out Comedy. Appealing to people from all corners, this showcase is combating negative perceptions of Asian Americans and inducing side-splitting laughter along the way. In 2005, Take Out Comedy produced the first National Asian Comedy tour and has also taken the tour overseas to Asia.

Jami Gong is a comic force that should not be missed.

Rusty Jacobs and Scott Tiler played young James Woods and Robert De Niro in the “new classic” Once Upon a Time in America. The film, directed by Italian film legend Sergio Leone, paints a picture of Jewish gangsters in Prohibition-era Brooklyn. Go On This Spot with them as they return to several film locations, including the Manhattan Bridge, the site of a pivotal scene in the movie.
