Gowanus Dredgers

The Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club is a volunteer organization that is dedicated to providing waterfront access and education to the public. The Dredgers offer free short tours of the Gowanus Canal. Dredger Owen Foote says, “It’s a really great opportunity for someone to learn how to go canoing and then be able to get out and see some tugboats, some ferries, the Statue of Liberty and a variety of stuff out in the harbor.” Each year they have an Earth Day Spring Canal Cleaning.
