American Heart Association
Cardiovascular disease has been the leading cause of death in the US since 1900. Today, one person passes away due to heart related diseases every 35 seconds. The American Heart association is responding with programs such as Search Your Heart Sunday…Go Healthy Monday which works tirelessly to raise awareness about the disease. In partnership with member churches the program increases heart health and stroke prevention in communities of color. Research has shown that African-Americans and Latino/Hispnaic-Americans have a higher risk of heart disease and stroke than any other group in the United States. Now, churches such as the Memorial Baptists Church in 10452, provide information on Sunday on how to live a heart healthier life starting Monday.
