Morris-Jumel Mansion

The Morris-Jumel Mansion, Manhattan’s oldest house, once served as George Washington’s headquarters. There he executed the Battle of Harlem Heights and entertained future presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Today, you can tour lavishly-decorated period rooms that recreate the 18th and 19th centuries. See Washington’s bedroom, stand in the octagonal drawing room, and tour the basement kitchen where servants dwelled.
